The Pseudo-Ninja from Another World (EP 30): Epilogue

Holy Relics excavated from the Port Sazan Ruins: Excerpts by Kagura

September 28, 1st year (502 Faylias)

I feel like I’ve finally settled down in this world.

The “Kagura Drug Store” is on the right track, and I was able to make washi paper thanks to all the new help. It’s a bit late, but from now on, I’ll write about my daily life in a diary made with this washi paper.

PS. Oh, I almost forgot. I reached A-rank with the guild from exterminating the ogre bear. Nellie is B-rank now while Walter and Laurina are C-Rank. I’m so happy.

October 11, 1st year (502 Faylias)

Toya, a representative of a local pharmacist, just rushed into my store; apparently, they didn’t like my pricing. However, I calculated mine based on raw materials, labor costs, and making a little profit. In other words, the other pharmacists have been setting their prices too high.

I suppose this is a result of Mavin’s Green Thumb; because of her, the costs of raw materials can be reduced, though the process as a whole is still expensive. Meanwhile, they don’t have that advantage so shipping and labor (regardless of quality) just become too much.

In short, he’s saying, “I have liquid medicine, you have tablets, even if it’s the same price range, I lose because of logistics, so give me the recipe.”

I had a feeling this would happen. But, in a sense, this is exactly what I was aiming for.

When I started out, I didn’t mean to jeopardize their livelihoods. I publicized the recipe so that the others can compete with my prices. With smaller, lighter, and more convenient packaging, they should start making money again. Patients are more willing to take solid medicine, too.

On further reflection, it made sense to make my recipe public like this, since low-level drugs are distributed as daily necessities instead of luxury goods. Due to the mana pouring out through me, both monsters and animals will get stronger over time… they’re going to need better healing items at reasonable price ranges.

With the current prices, there’s a risk that the current generation of knights and adventurers might not be able to afford them anymore…

January 10, 5th year (506 Faylias)

From this year on, I’ve transformed the drugstore into a general store for magic items, tools, weapons, etch. The “Kagura Drugstore” has been rebranded into “Kaguraya” to better fit the new stock.

In collaboration with Minister Regalia, we’re selling luxury maid combat clothing sets (mostly downgraded versions of the Moonlight Maid Uniform and the White Brim Noire)and butler combat clothing sets (mainly downgraded versions of the Dragon Fire Butler Suit and the Guardian Gloves).

They’ve become particularly popular with the upper class. Apparently, there’s a lot of nobles who are worried about taking escorts to a place with a dress code.

I can’t keep up with the production demand by myself. I leave the pharmacy department to Mavin.

May 25, 5th year (506 Faylias)

Suddenly, I felt it: just now, the world has changed…

It seems the amount of mana I’ve released has reached a landmark level. Up until now, the world has been running thin, managing to survive with a level cap of 50. It’s only around the Eriza and Port Sazan region, but the level cap has risen from 50… probably up to 100.

… But, I worry if the level cap is rising because of my being here, my very existence might become a cause for conflict….

March 1, 8th year (509 Faylias)

Relations between Eriza and the other countries are deteriorating. This is chiefly because the knights and adventurers here are blazing past level 50, but only in Port Sazan and the capital.

That being said, my main Ninja is at level 109. The others are over 90.

… Seems my levels don’t depend on the current cap of 100.

Nellie is level 61 now, Walter is level 50.

I’ve been thinking that since Kaguraya is going well, there’s no need to go adventuring at all anymore, but the monsters are also benefiting from the rising level cap…

The guild and the royal family are begging us to subdue high-level monsters. As a consequence, we rise to even higher levels. How far will these go…?

I am now S-rank… but I said I didn’t want the certification because it’s become a real hassle.

January 1, 10th year (511 Faylias)

It’s become necessary to maintain the mana balance with the other countries to prevent it from descending into mass conflict. That means I have to frequently change homes across several different places.

Here’s my plan:

I have 4 characters.

Ninja Shino’s base is the Port Sazan Samurai residence, but other mansions should be set up on the other continents. There are four continents in this world, so each character can handle one.

With the help of the Base Return magic item, by changing characters it becomes for me to do a kind of teleportation between continents.

The only problem is Kaguraya… fortunately, it seems that Stray has a skill for business, so if I leave it to him there should be no problems. Even our best-selling products have production lines that use skill scrolls, so they can be made without me.

I leave the management of the Port Sazan mansion to Walter and the girls, as I take Nellie with me to secure my new bases.

December 3, 12th year (513 Faylias)

I’ve managed to build Samurai Residences on all four continents—Eriza, Green Road, Ignis, Lavarou. Thanks to wandering the world for the past two years, the cause of the sudden increase in levels in the Eriza region has been forgotten.

Instead, this whole world will eventually be filled with mana. The other country’s level caps are going to open soon.

February 9, 30th year (521 Faylias Years)

It’s been 30 years since I was taken into this world. Does that mean I’m 51?!

Gya…! This is baaaaaddd….!

My heart will always be that of a young maiden! Though, I suppose since I’ve never been with a man since I came to this world, I still am a maiden!

To be perfectly honest, I’m glad that I’m 21 years old in appearance and physical ability thanks to my cheat, but I’ve been thinking of having a child these days.

Walter, who’s stuck with me for so long, has become a respectable middle-aged man.

But Nellie isn’t getting any older… perhaps my regular hugs are slowing down her aging?

September 12, 34th year (525 Faylias Years)

The level caps have been steadily opening up, and it seems the upper limits are currently at 200.

Perhaps as a consequence of that, last month someone called the Demon King built a castle on a mountain and declared war on the world.

His invasion has begun… then he met the strong people of the Kagura Company and Kaguraya at Port Sazan and was quickly repelled.

The damage to the city was insignificant.

I was allowed to take on the (level 130) Demon King. After all, I’m level 220 now.

Since Nellie’s at 180, honestly, she could have taken him on by herself.

With this achievement, my guild rank has become EX, the highest possible.

September 22, 34th year (525 Faylias)

10 days after defeating the Demon King, Queen Fen of Eriza invites me to a ceremony, to thank me for saving the world and to celebrate my reaching the highest guild rank. Since I was originally a common citizen of Japan, the royal atmosphere had me stiff and awkward. I was so nervous that I couldn’t even enjoy myself.

After the ceremony, Chlonoe Felicia offered to marry me into the royal family, but I refused because it’d be more trouble than it was worth. If I got tied up in one country, the world will lose its mana balance again.

January 1, 100th year (601 Faylias)

The level cap has gone past 300. Perhaps the world has calmed down or the speed that the caps open have been slowing down.

My level’s exceeded 350. Maybe it’s because some of the world’s animals have become tame around high-level monsters that they’re beginning to be considered as sacred. I’m still 21 years old, though…

I have a feeling that if I have to deal with another crisis, I should hide my identity.

It seems that Kaguraya and the Kagura Company have continued to grow steadily, and have begun to expand into branches in other countries. I’ve almost completely given away my control, so Walter and Stray’s children and apprentices will be doing most of the work.

March 3, 120th year (621 Faylias)

After all this time, there’s a new crisis. They’ve built a temple for me… moreover, people have been using my name “Kagura” without permission!

Goddess of Battle and Goddess of Crafting and Goddess of Magic and Goddess of Medicine and Goddess of Commerce?

Has my cheat class turned me into a deity?!

I’ll hide my identity from here on out…

April 10, 245th year (746 Faylias)

… Nellie is dead.

Not from battle. She passed away of old age, looking as young and adorable as she always was.

Originally, Beast-men have shorter lifespans than humans, around 70 years average if they don’t suffer from an illness; from that perspective, that Nellie reached the age of 258 is exceptional.

I continued to give her mana, extending her life. Now, I’ve used the last of my unique skills: Mana Release. It gives back into the world all the power collected by an individual who’s had their life extended by me.

I shouldn’t have used my skills to twist nature like this.

But… still… I wanted you to stay with me forever.

I wanted you to stay…

February 15, 449th year (950 Faylias)

There seem to be new religions popping up. Or so it seems, people oftentimes create new denominations under my name.

Recently, the level cap of the world has risen to 400, so my level isn’t so ridiculously high anymore. At best, the average is around level 200.

I don’t feel too good about these new religions, so I’ll crush some of the more malicious cults that have been abducting and brainwashing people. In these battles, my level ended up going to 490.

Seems they’d built quite the infamous reputation, as people were going “The real Goddess Kagura has descended and destroyed the impostors.”

… I hadn’t exposed my face to society for so long, I thought they wouldn’t recognize me…

August 1, 999th year (1500 Faylias)

Next year is going to be the 1000th year since I’ve arrived here.

The level cap will hit 1,000 early next year. The systems of this world have changed a lot.

Yes, in this world where mana was supposedly operating in “power saving mode”, the mana concentration has almost doubled to 999. The amount the magical system consumes seems to change every day.

I also recently received an e-mail from the Overseer of Faylias after so long. According to her, the world’s restoration is almost complete, and I can go back to earth next year. I received an item for just that, the World’s Treasure, so I decided to turn it into a pendant and wear it.

If I let a year’s worth of mana gather inside it, it seems I could go back to Japan just before the moment I disappeared, ignoring the rules of time and space. I don’t feel like going back to Japan full time, but I would like to visit my parents’ graves.

I’ll take the Shino I that’s become my keepsake of Nellie.

August 10, 1000th year (1501 Faylias)

Earlier this year, the world’s level cap hit 1,000. There’s no doubt that an e-mail from the Overseer of Faylias has also arrived. My level has hit 1,000 and that seemed to have been my very last level up.

The World’s Treasure has been emitting light since a while ago. Does this mean that the mana necessary for the time and space jump has been accumulated?

Then before I do anything, my body will probably…

“These are her writings,” I said.

“Professor!” my assistant cries. “What an incredible discovery…!”

“Kagura was originally a human being… and from a different world… what would the temple say?” I mutter.

I had been excavating these ruins said to have been the home of the Goddess Kagura here in Port Sazan, with hard-won permission from the temple… but honestly, I never thought I’d find anything like this.

Perhaps the material of this artifact is magically protected, which is why it hasn’t deteriorated even after 1000 years… and also why its discovery would rock the world if we went public with it.

“… We’ll not publicize this,” I muttered. “We will keep it strictly within the Scholar’s Guild.”

“But Professor!” my assistant cried. “It’d be a tragedy to keep this secret!”

“… You’ve read this too, haven’t you?” I said. “The Goddess Kagura wouldn’t want to needlessly cause more conflict.”

“.. You’ve got a point… the whole world would probably start calling you ‘Crackpot’ and ‘Waste of Rations’ behind your back too.”

“… So they would… I appreciate your… wait, who’s been calling me a ‘Waste of Rations’ behind my back?”

“Oh, well, that, uh…”

“Would you like to tell us in detail who heard you around, Ms. Valorie Teach?”

“Nyaaahh! Please have mercy, Prof. Rodney Mavin!

1511 Faylias Year

It has been 10 years since Shino Kagura disappeared from Faylias.

The city of Port Sazan was peaceful today.

My name is Juzo Kagura (21 years old).

… My mother gave me the name as she’s a crazy Warring States period history geek, but other than that I’m an ordinary college student.

My mother’s not normal, I am. I can’t effortlessly leap up the length of entire staircases, chop down trees with my bare hands, or combine junk to make a permanent working engine as she can!

I wonder why I’m here at all.

Eh? Another world? Isn’t that my mother’s backup bedtime story…?

TN: Juzo is Shino’s son. I will not be translating the tie-in chapter to the sequel, as it both stars a male protagonist and I have no interest in that plot. I feel the story ended just fine here, and believe my translations can also safely stop here.

God, this whole series has been a trip to translate. I’ve learned so much, suffered greatly, and wondered if it was worth continuing at all because I already knew what had happened and my enjoyment of the story had long since ended.

But, I want to always finish what I start.

  1. Thank you for translating this. I admit the tie in male protagonist chapter does sound unappealing. It’s so sad she lived the majority of her life without Nellie though but I’m glad they had a long loving relationship.

  2. Thanks for translating this. Too bad it had such a rushed ending… I was really hoping for more antics. Nellie and Kagura will be missed.

    1. It did feel that at some point the author wanted to move on to a different gimmick. Though I have no interest in the sequel, it’s much more grounded and serious than the OP antics here, primarily because Juzo (Kagura’s son) is not hilariously overpowered from the start and his inferiority complex is played up for drama.

  3. Huh, it axed just like that? Zzzz
Thanks for completing this one, enjoyed it so much!

Sooo, what’s your next project I wonder?

  4. Ah so the journey ends, this ending felt melancholy and sad. But I suppose such is the reality of being immortal. Thank you for translating I had fun reading!

    1. I actually appreciated the callback to the Kagura’s time being limited and how being immortal and overpowered can be a pain. I just wish we’d seen the other four continents, or that the author had ended it on a more open-ended note than this. Though, I suppose they were already gearing up for the sequel which has a completely different gimmick.

  5. Thanks for taking the responsability of finishing the webnovel you took over. Now you have entered then the very select club of translators that has actually completed the translation of a webnovel longer than a few chapters !
You get a virtual cookie, a badge of honor and the drinks and waifu are on the house as you also has the previous accomplishement of completing shorter story before ;op

Too bad for Nellie, but it’s nice that the author made the effort to give the feeling of loss that goes hand to hand with pseudo immortality, I would have liked to know what happened to the other kids in the long run tho.

Could you give some infos about the sequel ?
Stuff like what’s it’s about, how long it is, what kind of tags it has, etc…
Maybe it could motivate another translator to start it ?

And more importantly : who is the father of Juzo !
I’m very curious about who Kagura got as a husband !!

    1. The kids are briefly mentioned to have had descendants who at least carried their names, as you can see with these two intrepid researchers/archeologists.

I don’t really care much about the sequel from what I read, but the chief plot is something bad is happening in Faylias, Juzo gets teleported in by Overseer shenanigans, except he starts as the much lambasted Black Mage class, who takes a while to actually get devastating spells and be of use to a party. Great when you’re already a powerful sorcerer, not so much when you’re struggling to survive in a world where there’s probably no revive. He is also joined by a different beast-man girl, and I stopped after the initial chapter.

Shino did not marry. Juzo is explicitly the result of a one-night stand which Shino willingly went into. His father has had no involvement in his life simply because Shino willingly went into it as a single mother, and–except for the massive inferiority complex she gave Juzo–did a pretty decent job, all things considered.

  6. Thanks for completing the series! Definitely an unexpected way to end the series. I’m surprised there was a son at all considering how close Shino and Nellie were.

  7. Thanks for finishing this series, it was a decent read even if it was pretty glaring from the start that it’s going to be a short experiment.

  8. Ahh that was a good read, shame author basically axed the story nowhere close to an ‘end’ and just wrote a plot summary of future events

  9. I can sort of understand ending it like this. Writing a thousand years (in-world) of story, when just a few months took 28 chapters, would be a lot of work.

Thank you very, very much, for translating all of this. It was a great pleasure to read through it all.

  10. Arigatou 4 da chap~
I’m a bit sad since there’s only 3 more chaps left after this…
Maybe I can take to translate the rest?

The next chap Epilogue>Epilogue is still Shino’s and her life after returning to Japan and moved out to protect her son’s secret.
Its quite interesting to see Shino’s cheat influence (her in) the real world, or should I say epic?

And the Gaiden after the notice, is about Kagura Juzo’s father, Midou Keiichiro’s view with his Yukari.
I can’t stop grinning from the chuni-ness of the scene where Shino (?) is reciting the lines form a show.
Then the great twist is that Yukari called Shino as Oneesama and started to idolized her.

    1. I just finished reading the epilogue if the sequel
It seems that Juzo will have a daughter and she’s a half (half cat beast man and half human).

  11. It’s amazing how the epilogue and sequel ruined this for me, Nellie dying, Shino having a son from a one night stand, living as a single mother and being left alone again after her son is summoned, damn her 8/10 of Shiho’s life makes me so sad.
